Born in Kuala Lumpur, Florence graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) majoring in Electronics (First class) in 2002, Masters of Engineering Science (MEngSc) degree majoring in VLSI in 2005 and PhD in Engineering majoring in VLSI in 2011. In 2014, she completed her Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Derby, UK. She is also a Chartered Engineer with IET (UK) and a Fellow of FHEA. She is a certified trainer under the Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (Ministry of Human Resource, Malaysia).

Upon graduation, she started her career in the telecommunications and networking industry where she served the industry in various departments such as networking, IT, quality assurance and customer service. Being passionate in research, training and educating the youth, she then moved to the academic and research line and now has a total teaching and research experience of over 15 years in various reputable higher education institutions.

In addition, she has extended her knowledge and expertise through various training and consultancy works for industries such as Altera Corporation, Mini Circuits Technologies, Emerald Systems and several reputable education institutions. She has also collaborated with local companies such as DreamCatcher Consulting and Multimedia Development Corporation (MDEC) to run several training programmes. She is author and co-author of numerous international journal and conference papers in VLSI system design and artificial intelligence. She has also supervised undergraduate and post graduate students to completion.
